报告人简介: Myron Zalucki is currently Professor of Entomology in the School of Biological Sciences at The University of Queensland. Myron obtained his first degree from the Australian National University (Canberra) and a PhD from Griffith University (Brisbane). He was instrumental in setting up one of the first Cooperative Research Centers in Australia, the CRC for Tropical Pest Management, and is Australia’s representative on the International Congress of Entomology Council. He was awarded the Ian Mackerras Medal for excellence in Entomology by the Australian Entomological Society in 1996 and became a Fellow of The Entomological Society of America in 2014. He is an insect ecologist with a long history of working on both pure and applied issues – particularly on the ecology, biology and management of Helicoverpa spp., the major pest of field crops in Australia and a recent invasive in South America. He has led large Australian Government funded projects on Diamondback moth (DBM), a key pest of horticulture, in China, North Korea and the South Pacific. With students and colleagues Myron has published over 300 referred papers and chapters in books and Proceedings, with several papers addressing the question of why integrated pest management (IPM) has often not achieved what was promised – citing biological, technical and socio-economic reasons.
