Climate Change and Biodiversity in the Mountains: Opportunities for Students, Scientists and Society
Presenter: Dr. Prof. John L. Koprowski
Dr. John L. Koprowski is a Professor of Natural Resources & the Environment at the University of Arizona in the USA, who is visiting NWAFU to discuss collaborative opportunities for biodiversity research and graduate student exchange. He teaches courses in general ecology, wildlife behavior, montane ecology, and climate change biology at his university in Tucson. His research examines the impacts of disturbances, such as forest insect damage, wildfire, roads, invasive species and climate change, on biodiversity. Although he often has used mammals as model organisms, he has incorporated insects more frequently in his work and is visiting to explore collaborations with entomologists. He is the author/coauthor of 4 books and approximately 120 peer-reviewed publications. His presentation will provide an overview of his research program, outline opportunities for collaboration, and discuss strategies for students interested in pursuing graduate and postdoctoral studies in the United States.
